KAPENAS Sarawak Bienniel Delegates Conference was held as scheduled on the 26th October,2002,in Bintulu.The Conference was officiated by the General Manager,PETRONAS Sarawak Regional Office,En.Ahmad b Hj.Rahmat.Also present was Senior Manager,PETRONAS staff relations,En.Mohamed b.Ibrahim.
Several resolutions were passed by the delegates,amongst which was the budget proposal for annual dinners to be held to enhance solidarity amongst members and as an appreciaton for support given to the union by the members.
A resolution to increase the membership fee from the current five ringgit per member to between seven and nine ringgit per month per member was also approved.The membership fee has never been increased.
The conference ended with the announcement of the winners for the post in the Central Executive Committee for the term 2002-2004.
The President ,Sdra.Ghazali b Hj.Sebli ,of PCSB,Miri,managed to retain his post in a three-cornered fight for another term.He was challanged by ex-VP,Sdra Mudin Epui,and Sdra.Drahman b Jusli of MLNG,an ex-President,while the VP post was won by newcomer from PCSB,Miri,Sdra.M Saffari b Masni.Another new face in the CEC was Sdra.Yusuff b. Ali ,who won the Assistant Secretary General's sit from incumbent,Sdra.Mahmud b Pawi of PETRONAS Kuching.The only post uncontested was the Treasurer General's post held by Sdra. Kat Jugah of MLNG,Bintulu.
